How to Get the Perfect Wedding Confetti Photos
The confetti throw is one of the happiest moments of your wedding day. You've said "I do," you're officially married, and all your favourite people are there to celebrate with you.
But here's a little secret from behind the camera—not all confetti photos are created equal.
A few simple tips can turn a quick walk through a tunnel of guests into one of the standout moments in your wedding gallery.
Bigger is Better
When it comes to confetti, more is definitely more.
A tiny pinch might feel like enough, but it often disappears before it reaches you. Encourage your guests to grab a good handful. The more confetti in the air, the more magical and dramatic your photographs will look.

Throw It Up, Not At the Couple
This is probably the biggest tip of all.
Aim to throw the confetti high into the air above the couple rather than directly at their faces. Throwing upwards creates a beautiful shower that falls naturally around them, while throwing straight at them can result in a few unexpected mouthfuls of petals!
Your photographer will thank you, and so will the newlyweds.

Take Your Time Walking
You don't need to sprint through the confetti line.
Walk slowly, hold hands, look at each other, laugh, and enjoy the moment. If you rush through, the confetti is over in seconds. A slower walk gives your photographer time to capture lots of different reactions and genuine moments.

Don't Forget to Celebrate
Some of the best confetti photographs happen when couples forget about the camera altogether.
Cheer, laugh, steal a quick kiss, or look over at your friends and family. The emotion is what makes these images special.

Fresh Petals Make a Difference
Natural dried petals or biodegradable confetti tend to float through the air much more beautifully than paper alternatives. They create softer, more elegant photographs and are often required by many wedding venues.
If your venue has restrictions, it's always worth checking what they're happy for guests to use.
Trust Your Photographer
We'll usually help organise your guests into two lines and make sure everyone knows what to do before you walk through.
And don't be surprised if we ask everyone to take one step closer together. A tighter confetti tunnel means more colour, more atmosphere, and photographs that feel completely surrounded by celebration.
We might even remind everyone to throw upwards and to grab a bigger handful. It only takes a few seconds of direction, but it can make a huge difference to the final images.
Throw it high, walk slowly, laugh lots, and don't worry if a few petals end up in your hair—those are usually the photos people frame
